Inaugural Corpus Christi Science Saturday

The Inaugural Corpus Christi Science Saturday will take place on April 21 from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Del Mar College (Garcia Since Building). This free family event for our community is a chance to visit and discover the type of scientific research facilities we have in our city, meet local researchers and scientist, and participate in various learning activities. We hope to continue this event in the future.

The Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) Chapters at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College are hosting the event.

During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with many local scientists about their research and expertise in their fields of study. Various local exhibitors such as Corpus Christi Surfrider Foundation-Coastal Bend, Surf Museum, and other STEM-related organizations will showcase their resources, perform demonstrations, and provide information about their services.

Along with the exhibitors, we have students chapters/clubs such as Islander Green Team, Geoscience Society, Society of Physics, and others from TAMUCC and Del Mar College. These clubs/chapters will have hands-on demonstrations and other STEM-related demonstrations.

We have food trucks for this event located at the Garcia Building staff parking lot.

There will be chemistry demonstrations from the TAMUCC Chemistry Department at one of the laboratories. We will also have a tour of the labs located at GS-106 and GS-109 to show the type of research happening at the undergraduate level here at Del Mar College.
